I am Azraael the board administrator.
I work in food service.
I am a news JUNKY! I spend a lot of time reading news from all four corners of the planet, and some of it will end up here on the board.
My interests include computers, books, photography, motorcycles, guns, and target shooting.
I am a Spokane native of 48 years.
I started Spokane Talks because I remember the bulletin boards from the early days of the PC (personal computer) when you used your modem and phone line to dial into a BBS(Bulletin Board System)and the INTERNET was only for government and educational institutions.
Terms like DOS, Windows 95/98, BBS, FIDO-NET ,ALTER-NET,USENET, modems, baud rate, and initialization strings were real common and hard drives cost a buck a meg.
My first modem was a 300 baud and it was so slow that you could actually read the text as it came down the screen with time to spare.
I ran one of the Spokane boards for a while, and was an active participant on a number of others.
At the moment the only boards I can put a name to are The Beer Zone run by my friend Paul and one called Ice House, out of probably fifteen that were around then.
Kinda sad really, I can't even remember the name of my own board at the time.
I was one of the first beta testers for TCI cable's high speed INTERNET.
The thing I hope Spokane Talks will accomplish is to revive the sense of community that the bulletin boards back then had.
The people on those boards were for the most part from our area and some were even friends and neighbors.
I hope that after reading this you might become a member and contribute interesting topics for discussion.
This board is here for your use and enjoyment.
